Weights & Biases is seeking a Software Engineer, Senior to join their team remotely in California, United States. The role involves leading the evolution of their Registry product into a scalable, organization-wide Global Registry platform.
About the Role
As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the architectural transformation of the Registry platform to support scale across millions or billions of artifacts. You will identify optimization opportunities, resolve complex technical challenges, and balance platform health with rapid delivery. Responsibilities include refactoring technical debt, mentoring a team of 3–4 software engineers, establishing best practices for engineering patterns, collaborating with product and design teams, engaging with customers, and practicing agile development methodologies.
About You
Required:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading major technical projects or architecture initiatives.
- Strong Python skills.
- Proficiency in at least one compiled language (e.g., C++, C, Go).
- Expert-level knowledge of TypeScript, particularly in state management and frontend optimization.
- Advanced experience with GraphQL APIs and query performance tuning.
- Proven track record improving web application performance and maintainability.
- Experience mentoring engineering teams through technical leadership.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex bugs across the stack.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences.
