Inside Higher Ed is seeking an Art Therapy Specialist to provide art therapy services at a correctional institution in Charlotte County, FL. The role focuses on delivering therapeutic services to prison inmates with significant mental health needs.
About the Role
As an Art Therapy Specialist, you will be responsible for providing art therapy in individual and small group settings to inmates eligible for special education services. Your work will aim to reduce disciplinary referrals and confinement time while increasing access to academic services. You will collaborate with the Administrative and Project Directors to gather and analyze outcome data.
About You
Required:
- Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related field meeting national credentials ATRP, ATR, or ATRBC.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience.
Preferred:
- Credentialed in ATRP, ATR, or ATRBC.
- At least two years of clinical experience with adults with intellectual, behavioral, and/or emotional difficulties in a clinical or correctional setting.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based on in-depth data and ethical considerations.
- Experience performing tests and examinations relevant to the assigned area of research.
- Experience preparing reports and presenting scientific findings.
- Knowledge of project planning, development, and evaluation principles.
